Still more pain in Waziristan

Lakki Marwat District-The imposition of curfew in the tribal belt of Frontier Region Laki Marwat  (Sub district in Federally Administrated Tribal Area FATA) has added to the miseries of tribesman forcing them to besiege in their houses for the last one week.

The political administration had clamped curfew in the frontier region on December 22 for the purpose to stop infiltration of fleeing militants from the area from the bordering South Waziristan District where a successful operation by <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Pakistan army is underway against the militants.

The Baitani area of the tribal belt is under curfew for the last one week and the tribesmen have been stuck in their houses. A tribal leader Zaitullah told. He said that the tribal people were in dire need of foodstuff as the existing storage of the food iteams in their houses had exhausted.

He maintained that Bhatani tribesmen had to defend upon settled parts of District Lakki Marwat especially Tajori and Naurang towns to purchase food items and other needs.       “For the last several days people did not move to anywhere  besides they were now facing shortage of food items and other essential commodities’’, he told, saying that a crises like situation could emerge in the area if authorities did not relax curfew.

According to correspondent of the Peshawar based newspaper, strict vigilance on the exit and entrance points could help stop infiltration of militants to the so called tribal zone. According to local people migrated from the area said that new phase of war on terror is started in Waziristan and surrounding areas.
